2013 by the numbers

2013 was one hell of a ride… 79 race days.  About 1 race every 4.5 days.  It’s something I didn’t plan but rather just let unfold as the year rolled on.  Here is 2013 by the numbers:

10 countries: Canada, USA, Austria, Germany, Mongolia, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, Dominican Republic.

  • Salty Dog 6hr Enduro (BC): 1 day
  • Nimby 50 ( BC): 1 day

  • Bike 4 Peaks (Germany-Austria): 4 days
  • Test of Metal (BC): 1 day
  • BC Bike Race: 5 days
  • HighCascades 100 (Oregon): 1 day
  • TransRockies (BC-Alberta): 7 days
  • Canadian Marathon Champs (Quebec): 1 day
  • Mongolia Bike Challenge: 7 days

  • Tour of Dominican Republic: 8 days 
  • Rouge Roubaix (Lousiana): 1 day

  • Taiwan KOM: 1 day

 

4 Solid Crashes:

  • Tour of Dominican Republic– Stage 7: Road pile up resulting in a bicep chainring scar.
  • 2x BC BikeRace– Stage 2 and 3: Concussion/leg contusion.
  • World 24hr Solo Champs: Dislocated shoulder.

*10 stage races

*2 flat tires (Thanks Maxxis for the Ikons and CrossMarks)

*1 broken chain  (Thanks SRAM XX1)

*1 DNF (BC Bike Race)

*13 laung haul flights (not including connections)

*3* legit Strava KOM’s outside of racing. *could be more but too busy riding to do the research.

*3 Course records (Canadian Marathon Champs, Salty Dog 6hr, Japan Otaki 100)

*1 National title

* Under 3 full months at home in Victoria.

*11 months raced in (January the lone exception)

* 1 great year travelling with the Kona boys and girls:  Barry, Kris, Spencer, Dave, Helen, Wendy.  Thanks for the goodtimes on the road!

I’m sure there’s more numbers to be calculated but thats enough Math for a mountain biker in a day.
